*Bonus Post* Shock and Aww

"Do you think Michael would do that, though?  I mean, he has to know that you'd find out someone got into your accounts.  He'd have to be pretty stupid to risk it.  It'll look really bad if he hacked the accounts of someone with a restraining order against him, especially after violating the order already." Kate spoke thoughtfully, swirling the ice in her drink.

I shrugged, thinking it over for a moment.

"You know, that's a good point.  It would be idiotic, but Michael's shown himself to be unstable since we split up.  Besides, who else would have a reason to do that?  A random hacker would have done more, like send out spam or something.  And it was a local IP address, someone doing it maliciously would've used a proxy or something and shown an IP address from somewhere really random.  Honestly, I was way too upset last night to do much research and see if I could figure out who did it, but the answer seems obvious.  Michael and I were together long enough that he could easily guess my password.  Plus, he's really the only one with motive to do it."

"Fair enough.  Something just seems off to me, though," Kate shrugged.

"When I go home tonight, I'll look into it more.  Obviously, I'll text you if and when I have proof who did it."

"Hey, did you check your block list?" Kate practically shouted and I jumped. "Sorry, it just occurred to me that if Michael did it, he'd unblock himself so he could still look up your profile and see anything that other people tag about you!  He'd probably unblock Manda, too!  I still don't trust her.  I feel like her big boo-hoo, I see the light now act was bullshit."

"Damn, I never even thought about that!  You're totally right, I'll look at it when I get home.  I knew I kept you around for a reason," I teased.  The thought to check out my block list on Facebook had never even occurred to me.  Kate had brought up some very valid points.  Talking through things with her was usually helpful, two minds tend to be better than one when trying to figure out a mystery or a solution to a problem.

"What'd Eric say when you told him about all this?" Kate raised an eyebrow at me.

"Shit, I forgot to even tell you!  He blew me off last night.  He was supposed to come over and spend the night, but I just wasn't in the mood so I asked him not to come.  After I realized just how much info Michael could've seen, I had a meltdown and asked him to come by but he never texted me back."

"Rude!" Kate interjected.

"Yeah, kinda.  That's when I called you, though.  I didn't want to be alone.  Rob came over as soon as I texted him, so at least I had someone to talk to last night.  He stayed all night."

"Did you guys...?" Kate let the question hang.

"What?  No!" I yelped. "I cried all over him and fell asleep on the couch.  He must've fallen asleep, too, because when I woke up, he was still there, acting as my pillow."

"Aww," Kate smiled broadly, "He's a good dude.  You do know Eric will flip out, though, right?  I mean, he had a fit when you and Rob were paired up playing board games.  Yeah, yeah, he said its because you never turn to him when shit comes up, but you tried last night and he didn't even have the decency to call you."

"That's true," I mumbled, picking at my nail polish, chipping it off in flecks.  I always fidget when I'm nervous or upset. "He did text me this morning, though, saying sorry and telling me he'd gone out with his roommate for the night."

"Well, just be careful how you phrase it.  Or just don't mention it at all!" she suggested.

"Ugh, I'm not gonna lie about it.  I'll figure something out.  Hey, what time is Jack coming over tonight?" I asked, looking at the time on my phone.  Kate had mentioned that Jack would be coming by to pick her up and they'd be going out for a drink.  I knew she was hoping he'd spend the night with her for the first time.  They'd kissed and made out, but I knew Kate was ready to take the next step.  Years of having a crush on someone does that to a girl.

She perked up, smiling hugely.

"He should be here pretty soon, actually!  Like, within 20 minutes!"

"Wellll, I know it's supposed to be a big night for you two, so I'll get out of your hair.  Call me in the morning with details!  That, or I'll just spy out my window and see what time he leaves," I teased her with an exaggerated wink.  She lightly swatted at me, laughing.

I made the short trek across the courtyard back to my own apartment.  As I started up the stairs, my neighbors door opened and a guy came barreling down, nearly knocking me over.  I made a sound  of annoyance.  He gave me a weird look and continued on his way.  I guess all neighbors can't be as awesome as Rob and Kate!

I made a cup of tea and sat down with my laptop.  I was determined to figure out who had hacked my accounts and why.  Remembering Kate's suggestion, I pulled up Facebook and opened up my account settings.  I fully expected to see Michael's name missing from my block list.  What I saw instead drained all of the color from my face.  My lips felt numb and a wave of nausea washed over me.

Michael, Manda and a few others were still blocked.  At the bottom of the block list, however, a new name had been added.

**Come back Friday morning for the regularly scheduled post to find out whose name had been added and how Emma reacts!  Share your thoughts and theories in the comments, I love reading what you all have to say.**

  1. I just.. get the feeling it's Rob who's been added and Eric behind it all. Because he's jealous and stuff. I think he hacked her to make sure she's not messing around with him (that's why nothing else was touched) and to see if she was telling the truth about them just being friends. I really do.

Love the blog. I've been following you for years (since you first started it!) so glad you're back!

  2. I too think it's Eric. Although it wasn't a one time thing. Have to read the previous post to see when it started, otherwise he'd be checking her before he even met rob (if it's Eric)

  3. Can't wait to find out who it is!! I love/hate the suspense!!!

  4. Am I the only one who finds Eric's character annoying/boring/irritating? I think it's time to dumb his character. Even if her/Rob don't become involved, I would rather see more of him in the storyline.

  5. I have a feeling it's Eric as well that's behind all this. I find him to be so shady. His girlfriend that he cares about so much texts him and he waits until the next day to reply. Am I to believe this guy didn't look at his phone once while he was out? He complains about Rob being there for Emma and her not turning to him but when she does, he's MIA. I like the friendship that Rob and Emma have. She has too much going on to get in a relationship with him now but who knows what the future holds? Great post.

  7. I also think Eric is behind the hacking. And it kind of sounded like this started before he found out about Rob. Maybe it isn't Rob that was blocked though. A couple posts back she mentioned feeling like someone was watching her as she was leaving with Eric. Either way, I can't wait to find out. Lol. Thanks for the bonus post!! I absolutely love this blog.

  8. It would be a good twist if it was Eric that was blocked and it turned out that Rob did it. She really knows nothing about him and he is really helpful for a stranger and always seems to be around he might be jealous that Eric is with her. and if she felt like someone was watching her when she left Eric's which means its probably not Eric watching her so it could have been Rob following her!!!
